How to Play

  1. Each player controls three stones (X or O).
  2. Players take turns placing one stone on any empty square.
  3. After a player has all three stones on the board, placing a new stone automatically removes their oldest one, so they always have exactly three in play.
  4. The faded stone on the board shows which one will disappear next.
  5. Create a straight line of your three stones — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — to win the round.
  6. Press Start Next Round to begin the following round; the scoreboard keeps track of wins.
  7. Select Reset game in the menu to clear scores and change settings.

About the Game

Endless Tic Tac Toe is a free online twist on the classic noughts-and-crosses board game. Instead of filling the whole grid, each player keeps only three stones in play. Place a fourth and your oldest stone vanishes — so the board never clogs up and the game never ends in a boring draw. It turns a children's game into a fast, tactical duel of positioning.

Play it directly in your browser, on desktop or mobile, with no download and no sign-up. Challenge a friend in local two-player mode, or take on the AI bot across six difficulty levels — from a relaxed Easy warm-up to a near-unbeatable Boss.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Endless Tic Tac Toe?
It's a strategic variant of classic Tic Tac Toe where each player has only three stones on the board at a time. When you place a fourth stone, your oldest one disappears, so every move matters and the board never fills up.
How do you win?
Line up your three stones in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — just like classic Tic Tac Toe. Because you only ever have three stones in play, you keep repositioning them instead of filling the grid.
Is it free to play?
Yes. Endless Tic Tac Toe is completely free and runs in your browser with no download or sign-up required.
Can I play against the computer?
Yes. You can challenge an AI opponent at six difficulty levels, from Easy for a relaxed warm-up to Boss for near-perfect play.
